Welcome to the 2^nd Edition of the Collector’s Guide to Vintage Intel Microchips! This last year has been an exciting one for chip collectors. For starters, a number of important new chips surfaced this last year. Some examples include a 1701 and 4003 in type C package w/gray traces and an 8008-1 without a ‘C’ prefix. Several serious collectors also entered the hobby this last year and overall interest in the hobby continues to grow. The “flood” of rare chips that some were concerned would occur when the 1^st edition of this guide was released last year did not happen. This simply reinforces my belief that the days of “hoards” of rare chips being dumped on Ebay are rapidly coming to an end. Sure, deals can still be found, but those waiting on someone to dump a hundred C4004’s in like new condition on Ebay, for 19.95 ea. are engaged in wishful thinking. It’s not going to happen. The Collector’s Guide to Vintage Intel Microchips 2^nd Edition for 2006 improves on the 2005 edition with over 125 new photos and with better quality photos for many chips. In addition to the new photos, introduction dates have been narrowed down on some chips and data sheets have been discovered for some chips that had been discontinued by the time Intel’s first data catalog was printed in Sept. 1972. The Collector's Guide for Vintage Intel Microchips consists of hundreds of cross-linked Adobe PDFs arranged in an easy to navigate format. Simply click on any section in the contents to open the PDF for that section, click on any part number in the Numerical Index to open the PDF for that part number, etc. I am still looking for a 1973 or 1974 Intel data catalog as either of these would be a great resource for this guide.
